The Finance Department is responsible for the City’s accounting and financial operations. This includes developing and maintaining a strong system of internal controls and ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
The Department oversees the collection of property and business taxes, as well as all City court–related fines and fees. Additional responsibilities include preparing the City’s financial statements and budget documents, coordinating long-term debt issuances, and managing the City’s cash management and investment program.
The Finance Department also coordinates, prepares, and monitors the annual budget throughout the fiscal year. Core internal functions managed by the Department include payroll processing, payment of all City obligations, maintenance of asset records, recording of all revenues, and preparation of month-end and year-end financial reports.
